Growth and Change

“We are products of our past, but we don't have to be prisoners of it.”

Putting my personal feelings in black and white has always been a luxurious affair for myself. I am passionate about what I do, at the same time, recently I learnt a few really important lessons through my journey which I feel are really invaluable. I am thankful for all the great people that are in my life that have and will continue to help me to grow and change for the better as a person.

The ability to reflect is a skill which I believe have helped me to move forward in many areas of my life, despite stagnation and undeniably procrastination as well. Here are 3 key lessons which I have learnt recently through reflection, which I would love to share with my readers.

1st: Learn to be proactive not reactive.
This is easier said than done, because I have violated this principle countless times. Being proactive in my understanding can be as simple as keeping a cool-headed mind when we are agitated by people or events.

In an old Chinese adage, there is a saying, "take a step back, and you can feel the greatness of the sky and the sea.". So when we feel like spewing furious words and reacting violently, remember to take a step back, so that we will be able to learn and build better relationships.

2nd: People will do what we do, not what we say.

This is an important lesson for me as well, as I used to be a person amazing in word-forms but weak at having the substance to back my statements up. In recent events, I have realised that people learn from our actions, more than from our words.  We can use a million words to convince others, but it will be futile, when our words and actions are not in alignment.

It is just like a wishful thinker, who claims that he will be a millionaire, but choose to do nothing about it. Thus in order to lead our business organisation, the first we must do, is to lead through our actions.

3rd: Find the passion in what we do, and we will do what we are passionate about.

I realised that we are all blessed with god given talents and strengths for us to excel in our life, and we have to find the link between what we love to do, and what we are given in life, in order to find personal fulfillment as well as derive success in our positions in life.

Success is a matter of how many people are better off because we have lived, and if we are not successful yet in our life, it is time for us to reflect and see how can we choose to improve further.

With this, I will like to end of this blog post, and time for me to put in the actions to back up my learning points to bring my work on hand to completion.

Till next time,
