Gratitude - Secret to Happiness

"The secret to living a contented life, is to lead a life of gratitude."

We live in an environment which constantly bombards us messages such as we should never stay contented with where we are. Messages that tell us we are never enough; we need to be extremely successful in a corporate career to achieve happiness; we need to find a soulmate to be contented etc.

These messages always pull us away from living in the present, always fighting for the far away future, for the cheese called Happiness that seems to be always eluding us. Recently, after implementing a book sharing session among my business partners and I, I begun to expand my reading. As such, I happen to come across a book called Being Happy written by Andrew Matthews.

This book is a really simple book yet filled with wisdom that can be applied almost immediately. I have not been in my best shape and form recently, dulled by the storms of life, and everyday was an uphill battle. I always felt unhappy with what I have, and happiness eluded me time again and again.

After reading this book, I decided to start working on my gratitude list immediately. In that instant when I was writing a list of what I am grateful about, I began feel a very deep inner gratefulness within me that dispelled the negativity and the worries that I was harboring in my mind.

I realised I always focused on my life issues and thereof I attracted more issues that warranted my attention. My mentor have always told me this line: Wherever attention goes, energy flows, and result shows. I am determined to shift my attention to people who are already in my life, and the family, friends and business partners that I am blessed with. I am grateful for the opportunity to read this book, and I would highly recommend it as a good read. May it bless you all, as much as it impacted my life.
